On November 30, 1842, the Isidore left Kennebunkport, maine, on her maiden voyage, bound for New Orleans with fifteen local sailors on board. She ran into a fierce northeaster storm and her entire crew perished on the jagged rocks of Bald Head Cliff in Cape Neddick, just a few miles down the coast. The details of the tragedy, the eerie dreams and premonitions of the crew, and later reports of a ghost ship made this now-forgotten shipwreck one of the most widely-told tales in Maine a century ago. The setting, cast, and dramatic events of this shipwreck open an interesting window into life in the Pine Tree State during that bygone era. Hardcover 102 pages, with CD of songs about the Isidore.
